Having studied architecture, writing and fine art, Cate Devaney began her career in film working as an art director and storyboard artist while also writing and directing her own projects. Through sketching her own concepts, she created a storyboard portfolio that drew the attention of director Scott Derrickson who hired her as his storyboard artist on SINISTER, DELIVER US FROM EVIL and Marvel’s DR. STRANGE. Throughout her ten-year career, Cate has worked in television, commercials, and feature films collaborating with many notable writers, directors and producers, including Tommy Schlamme, Alan Taylor, David Gelb, Michael Showalter, Joe Robert Cole and Akiva Goldsman.

Cate wrote and directed on her directorial debut, THE MAD HATTER, in the summer of 2019 and completed the year writing and directing on the horror anthology, 50 STATES OF FRIGHT, produced by Sam Raimi, available on ROKU. THE MAD HATTER is available wherever you like to rent movies.  ​

In October 2022, the Austin Film Festival announced Cate as a semifinalist in the AMC one-hour pilot category with her original TV pilot, Moral High Ground.
